Highlights from the May board meeting, held last night, Wednesday May 18, at Brunskill School.- Great SUM Theatre performance on Monday. Thank you!- BBQ was a success as well. So nice to see so many people in person! Thanks for the support!- Spring cleanup was held on May 7. Went very well. May have had the most trash collected, compared to other groups in the City.- No further information regarding the suggestion from community members to plant more trees along 14th Street pathway.- Finances in good standing. Payments for program instructors will come near end of June.- Programming will wrap up mid-June. Planning for fall programs underway - have any ideas for new programs? Fall registration will be Sept. 8 and 13.- New board head at Albert Community Centre, Gary Ayotte. No City Councillor representation on board anymore as City has cut back on duties of Councillors. Daycare centre has plans to expand their playground/park area.- Discussion of how VVCA can support Albert Community Centre in fundraising for building maintenance, upgrades. Discussion in fall?- Hoping SYSI will expand soccer registration city-wide. Soccer registration mid-June to end of August.- Community garden had a workbee last weekend with about 25-30 people, readying the plots for another growing season. About 20 more plots were added this spring. Planning for a 12-year anniversary event this summer.- Rink: donor board was corrected and remounted on fencing. Two more donor boards to be installed - thank you! Some maintenance required on mesh and puckboard.- Discussion about proposed City infill changes. Goes to public hearing at next Council meeting, Tuesday May 24. Have issues with the raised sill heights (1m changed to 1.3m) and extensions to houses at back that aren't included in sidewall calculations.
