Albert Indoor Playground

On the border of Nutana and Varsity View, within the historic Albert Community Centre, the Albert Indoor Playground (AlP) has been offering great exploration and fun for the youngest in our community for 40 years! This hidden gem of a children’s service offering, ran by volunteers, has provided enjoyment to many families over the years and has been integral in the development of the sense of community in our neighbourhoods.

At the AlP, important early development social interactions and friendships are formed between the kids at play as they weave their way through varying rooms of activities and play structures. Their caregivers have chairs and space for some much needed adult conversation, or simply to enjoy a moment to relax while their toddler is otherwise content and occupied. This clean, cozy space filled with beautiful natural lighting is completely unique and cost friendly. A must-keep in our community.

The Albert Indoor Playground has been facing a decline in memberships, and is on the brink of closure. When asked how the community can help, the AlP’s response was:

  • Our biggest ask is for families to Learn about us and sign up! Currently we are close to closure without more members. We are one of the cheaper options in Saskatoon in terms of where to take your little ones for indoor play time. As a non-profit, membership money is exclusively to pay rent, insurance, cleaning supplies, and toy replacements.
  • We could use help with promoting the Playgroup through our Facebook and Website.
  • Donations/ Sponsorship Opportunities (no tax receipt able to be issued). Reach out to albertindoorplayground@gmail.com to discuss options!

The Albert Indoor Playground Is a vibrant space where parents and caregivers can bring their children for socializatlon, creative play, crafts, and fun! The cooperative, non·profit playgroup is entirely run by volunteers and is designed for children ages 0-5. Sessions run from 9:00AM ·12:00 PM Monday to Friday, and afternoon sessions from 1-4 PM. Parents also get a chance to have a hot coffee or tea while enjoying some adult conversation with each other.
